Learning
For the first moment, recording a podcast for the first time, it marked my entry into uncharted territory. In this moment, I realized the course objective of being an "effective collaborator". By working with a team, I learned to communicate with others and play my part in the workflow. This experience allowed me to face future collaborative projects with more confidence and allowed me to be brave enough to face the microphone for the first time to speak English, which I am not very good at
For the second moment, annotating a movie for the first time, this was a moment where I made a significant improvement in my reading skills and understanding of multimedia texts. This experience helped me to better understand the importance of the course objective of "applying reading skills to a variety of text forms". By annotating films, I learned to analyze visual, musical, and verbal elements and how to understand the meaning behind each act, which has greatly benefited my academic writing
For the third moment, trying to work with non-native group members for the first time was an important growth moment for me in terms of collaboration and communication. This experience made me realize the importance of the course objective of "practicing communication skills through reading, speaking, and writing in different types of media". Working with non-native speakers has required me to be more patient and empathetic, learn to express my ideas more clearly, and to listen to and respect others' points of view. This has laid a solid foundation for my future teamwork and cross-cultural communication
During Production
I am responsible for:
Editing podcast script paragraphs : I was responsible for editing a portion of the script and editing an insightful piece of content during the production of the podcast. Through this section, I ensured that the content flowed and was logical, and also wanted to increase engagement through more interaction. This improved my writing and editing skills, as well as my ability to "understand and practice the process of creating complex texts" as stated in the course objectives.
Audio editing for podcasts: I was responsible for editing the audio for the podcasts, including selecting appropriate audio clips and adjusting audio quality. By using editing tools, I was able to edit the audio efficiently, maintaining smoothness and coherence. This experience improved my audio processing skills as well as enriched my skill set.
Completed character analysis of Drax: I completed a character analysis of Drax and shared my insights in a podcast. By analyzing the character's traits and behaviors, I was able to learn more about the meaning that follows each behavioral action. This strengthened my analytical and expressive skills, as well as my understanding of the importance of "applying reading skills to a variety of text forms" as stated in the course objectives.
Looking for Future
I made several mistakes and ran into some difficulties with this project. Occasionally, there were issues with teamwork that resulted in poor communication or sluggish progress. For instance, our team started later than expected, which made us seem a little hurried. During the scripting and recording process, I also ran into a few technical issues. For instance, I was frustrated for a while because I couldn't export the audio from Apple's voice memo during the audio editing process. But it was because of these errors and difficulties that I developed a stronger learning mindset, improved my communication and attention to detail, and learned how to actively seek out answers. I learned how to grow from my mistakes and continuously refine my work approach through this process.
I have learned a lot about collaboration and have gained useful experience by finishing this project. I came to understand how crucial teamwork and efficient communication are to making sure the project goes well and accomplishes its objectives. Along with learning to find my position on the team, I also learned to listen to and respect the thoughts and opinions of my teammates. These collaborative abilities, which will help me cooperate and communicate with people more effectively, I think will benefit my future career in both my professional and social lives.
I examined Drax's persona in detail while writing the podcast script, paying close attention to every action to decipher its significance. Talking with my teammates about concepts from the podcast helped me to broaden my horizons and learn how to view things from various angles. During the process, I became aware of how I could develop and expand on some of the concepts and themes from the podcast to my thesis work. As a result, I was able to improve and polish the content of my thesis by applying the knowledge and insights I gained from the podcasts.
